NEO UNDERGROUND KENYA
A creative engine for underground expression
& experimentation.
for the culture,
by the culture
What is NUKe?
NUKe -> Neo Underground Kenya
NUKe is a cultural framework tracking Kenya’s underground creative scenes as they form.
It follows the spaces, sounds, and practices that exist outside formal 'mainstream' recognition...yet consistently shape the creative landscape.
NU_Eld is NUKe in Eldoret.
A local expression of the same framework — tuned to the city’s own underground layer.
It works with independent creatives, collectives, and informal spaces already shaping Eldoret’s cultural identity from the inside.
Not spotlighting...Connecting.
NU_Eld feeds into broader city experiments like the Eldoret Design District (EDD), where these signals are tested at scale.
It follows the spaces, sounds, and practices that exist outside formal 'mainstream' recognition...yet consistently shape the creative landscape.
a way of noticing and appreciating the underground currents that shape our culture
NUKe exists to explore the messy, vibrant, contradictory space where culture is made and lived.
It holds the tension between the personal and the political, the local and the global.
The word 'underground' is intentional. It is a nod to humans and systems that operate outside mainstream visibility,
to voices that are often marginalized, and to the raw, unpolished energy that fuels true creativity.
NUKe is a space for experimentation, for testing new forms of expression, and for amplifying the voices and visions that are shaping our cultural future.
