Step into the brew. Settle into the frequency of the space.
Where live making, rhythm, and raw participation collide.
The slow spillover. What remains after the formal program ends.
The ecosystem awakens with ambient sonic layers as creators lay out their craft. This is where people arrive, orient themselves, reconnect with familiar faces, and slowly settle into the frequency of the gathering.
Arrive, settle in, explore the grounds, and prepare for the unfolding experience.
Independent vendors, creators, makers, and curious discoveries spread across the landscape.
Preliminary culinary experiences, tasting moments, and shared tables that help people land.
There is no separation between audience and maker. Brewing, discussion, music, food, and experimentation happen in full view. Process becomes performance.
Brewing traditions become interactive experiences where learning happens through participation.
DJs, selectors, and open-deck participants shape the sonic atmosphere together.
Circular conversations around culture, pleasure, design, identity, alcohol, and awareness.
The structured programme fades into the background. What remains are conversations, fires, reflections, and the subtle afterglow of shared experience.
Slower rhythms, deeper listening, and room for reflection as day becomes night.
DJs, selectors, and live artists continue to shape the space with high-energy performances.
For those staying the night, the space becomes a quiet sanctuary for reflection, connection, and alignment with the natural rhythms of the environment.
DJs, independent sonic selectors, and live sonic curation.
Culinary experiments highlighting local flavors and breaking bread.
Visual artists creating raw, organic installations in real-time.
Alternative street apparel, independent creators, and local craft.
A live interactive theatre experience exploring nightlife, behaviour, myths, confidence, pleasure, and the stories we tell ourselves.
Optional overnight stay under the stars for full cultural immersion.
A live theatre experience where nightlife becomes the stage.
Using improvisation, audience participation and humour, Altered States explores the people, myths and behaviours that appear in social spaces everywhere.
The friend who "knows their limit." The person who suddenly becomes a philosopher. The one who is definitely leaving in ten minutes. The person who swears they have a cure for everything.
If you've spent time at parties, bars, festivals, campfires or social gatherings, you've met these characters before.
Performers create scenes in real time using audience suggestions, social situations and familiar nightlife stories.
The audience helps shape the experience through voting, reactions, questions and participation.
No two performances are ever the same.
Altered States isn't interested in telling people what to do.
Instead, it creates a space where we can laugh at, recognise and reflect on behaviours that often go unquestioned.
The goal isn't judgement.
It's awareness, conversation and recognition.
Altered States is curated by Zen Keg, a collective exploring more conscious approaches to nightlife, and presented through Kokoteni — an Eldoret Design District initiative that moves like a cultural caravan, carrying experiences, conversations, and creative encounters shaped by makers, thinkers, and curators from Eldoret and beyond.
Also very key in the curation and success of Altered States, is team of theatre makers, improvisers, and social researchers who have spent years exploring the intersection of nightlife, culture, and human behaviour.
